Original Kuniyoshi (1797 - 1861) Japanese Woodblock Print
Oboshi Rikiya Yoshikane, 1847 - 1848

Comments - Handsome portrait of Oboshi Rikiya Yoshikane, the fifteen-year-old son of Oboshi Yuranosuke, the leader of the 47 ronin. He sits on a folding stool, leaning forward with a determined frown, his hair pulled back into a ponytail with a white sash tied around his forehead. He wears the ronin's traditional black and white dogtooth bordered robe over a gray kimono tucked into print pans over armor, his two swords at his side. Only the second time we've seen this rare design from Kuniyoshi's untitled series of 47 ronin diptychs.

Artist - Kuniyoshi (1797 - 1861)

Image Size - 28 3/8" x 9 3/8"

Condition - This print with nice detail as shown. Two separate panels, backed with paper. Slight rubbing, a few creases and marks. Please see photos for details.
