Series; A Collection of Modern Beauties

Courtesan at a Moon-viewing Party, 1855 - Beautiful scene of a beauty relaxing on a verandah during a moon-viewing party, looking up with a smile as a flock of geese descends for the evening. She holds a slender pipe in one hand, her other hand resting atop the railing. On the floor before her, chopsticks rest across a blue bowl of food beside an elegant lacquer tobacco set, a cup nearby and a small pitcher on a warmer at left. An ornate lantern hangs overhead decorated with fringe tassels, and cherry trees bloom in the garden below. A lovely Edo era beauty portrait, with handsome woodgrain impression on the sky.
