Comments - Interesting scene from the kabuki play "Chiyo no haruto sae no saya" of the beauty Suzaki no Ohama and the fireman Tsunayoshi beneath a blossoming cherry tree. The young woman smiles up at her companion, a wooden bucket hanging from a small rake she holds over her shoulder. Tsunayoshi looks at her with a slight frown as he adjusts the cloth over his shoulder, carrying a stack of boxes with his other hand. He wears an intricately detailed quilted fireman's robe over a plaid kimono tucked up at the waist and black leggings. From left, the actors are Kawarazaki Kunitaro I as Suzaki no Ohama and Kawarazaki Gonjuro I. An attractive design, nicely detailed.
