Seki Sanjuro III as Tsuribune Sabu, 1863

Comments - Interesting kabuki portrait of Seki Sanjuro III as Tsuribune Sabu standing on a folding screen atop two sword blades. He looks down with an angry grimace as the tucks his kimono up at the back. A string of prayer beads hangs from one ear, a practice thought to help control temper. A checked pattern creates a dramatic backdrop for the figure. A nice expressive figure.
