Comments - Terrific image of Mitsuuji, the Country Genji, writing a poem slip as he sits in a beautiful teahouse in the Yoshiwara, surrounded by many beauties and their young attendants. He looks up with a smile as a courtesan chats with him, holding a round fan with white blossoms on it. At left, a woman offers a bamboo vase of flowers to a seated young man, who reaches for them eagerly. Above them, a women peers around the edge of a sliding panel inset with a fine reed blind. The mansion is beautifully decorated with elegant tasseled lanterns hanging overhead, and a decorative border of lucky symbols below the verandah railing. A lovely design with wonderful detail, including faint embossing on the white kimono trim.
