Kawarazaki Gonjuro I as the Servant Yodohira, 1854

Comments - Handsome kabuki portrait of Kawarazaki Gonjuro I as the servant Yodohira in the play "Miyakodori nagare no shiranami." He leans forward with his sword in one hand, thrusting it before him with a concerned frown. A short sword lies on the ground before him, with the top of a stone torii gate visible beyond the low green slope at right. Pine branches frame the softly shaded night sky above. A nice expressive figure in an interesting setting.

Condition - This print with good detail as shown. Backed with paper. Vertical fold at side, a couple creases at edges. Please see photos for details.
