Comments - Charming scene of a young nobleman riding his horse across the Ide Jewel River, one of Japan's famous Six Jewel Rivers. He smiles as he looks back at a beauty pausing to take a drink of water from a black lacquer dipper as she stands in the shallow water. At right, another woman serving as his sword bearer waits patiently for the group. Blossoming yamabuki or yellow mountain roses grow along the shore, and the sky is softly shaded orange above a row of clouds. The first time we've seen this attractive design.
