Set of 10 Otsu-e Folk Art Characters - Handsome set of 10 prints depicting characters from traditional folk paintings known as Otsu-e, originally sold to travelers during the Edo era in Otsu on Lake Biwa near Kyoto. They featured easily recognizable figures, such as the falconer, the Wisteria Maiden, an oni or demon, and the samurai Benkei carrying a temple bell. This set includes the Thunder God Raijin dangling a drum on a hook from a black cloud, and an attendant shaving the head of Fukurokuju, one of the famous Seven Lucky Gods whose elongated forehead denotes wisdom. A charming group of these popular subjects.

Image Size - Size varies slightly, about 9 5/8" x 6 5/8"

Condition - Prints with good color and detail as shown. Backed with paper. Some prints have slight soiling, or a couple spots or creases. Please see photos for details.
