Aoi Slope, Outside Toranomon Gate - Interesting night view of Aoi Slope outside the Tornanoemon Gate of Edo Castle. At lower right, two apprentices return from customary winter visits to bathe in icy water at Konpira Shrine, where they would pray to improve their skills. At center right, water rushes from Tameike Pond into the outer moat. At lower left, a couple of dogs rest in the middle of the road, two noodle vendors with portable stalls visible at right. Stars twinkle in the evening sky and a flock of geese flies past the crescent moon. Nicely detailed and shaded.
