Temple Gardens, Nippori - Lovely view of the grounds of three Buddhist temples near the outskirts of Edo. Visitors to the shrines enjoy the colorful blossoms of the cherry trees and azaleas as they stroll about the area and climb the small hill at right towards the buildings of Sushoin Shrine. An interesting feature is the unusual boat-shaped topiary just above the signature cartouche at lower right, which would have been immediately recognizable to Edoites. Attractively colored and shaded.
