Kabuki Double Portrait, 1885

Comments - Interesting kabuki double portrait of two commoners. The man at left looks up at his companion with a strange grimace, biting the tip of his tongue beneath his teeth. His kimono features dark violet and mustard yellow striped with leaf motifs, worn over a red and white under robe. The fellow at right seems unaware of him, looking over his shoulder with a slight frown. The tattooed arm of another man can just be seen at lower right. Nice larger expressive figures set off by the deep red background.

Artist - Kunichika (1835 - 1900)

Image Size - 14 1/8" x 9 1/2"

Condition - This print with nice color and detail as shown. A few small repairs, creasing, small stain. Please see photos for details.
