Series; Modern Beauties as the Seven Komachi

Beauty with a Bowl, circa 1821 - 1822 - Attractive portrait of a beauty from a series pairing modern women with seven famous episodes from the life of the Heian era poet Ono no Komachi. The beauty holds a small bowl, looking down at it closely as she stands beside a bed. She wears a red orange kimono with blue flowers bordered with a pink and blue print of leaves and gourds, worn over a red under robe, a comb slipping loose from the side of her head. An inset at upper left depicts Ono no Komachi standing beside a mirror on a makeup chest. A rarely seen early Kunisada beauty series.

Condition - This print with good detail as shown. Vertical fold at side. Wormholes, repaired. Creasing, slight rubbing, staining. Please see photos for details.
