Series; The Mirror of Today's Pictures
A Fuji Arts Special Offer Auction

Mirror of Today's Pictures - Handsome design from Tokyokuni III's series "Mirror of Today's Pictures," which features portraits of kabuki actors as reflected in oval mirrors with elegant black lacquer frames. Pieces of tie-dyed and print fabrics are tucked around the edges of each frame, with confetti-like dots scattered across the background and a verse above. These expressive figures are beautifully detailed, with fine line work in the hair. A seldom-seen kabuki series in an interesting format.

Special detail - Embossing on the red under robe and the white herons on the robe.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 14" x 9 1/2"

Condition - This print with excellent detail and nice color as shown. Backed with paper. Some prints have a couple creases or light lines where backing papers overlap. Please see photos for details.
