Original Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864) Japanese Woodblock Print
Comparison of Genji's Room, 1855

Comments - Handsome scene of beauties enjoying a variety of pastimes in a room overlooking the water. At lower left, a woman leans over a book, engrossed in reading. At lower right, a beauty in a blue tie-dyed room trims her nails. Just above, a young girl uses a pair of tweezers to pluck a hair from a beauty's neck, a rather unhappy-looking cat tucked under her kimono. At upper left, a beauty plays shamisen and a girl carries in a letter. A charming design with wonderful detail.

Image Size - 13 1/2" x 18 7/8"
