Actors Making a Formal Stage Announcement, 1874

Comments - Interesting scene of kabuki actors making a kojo or formal stage announcement to the audience. The men exchange angry frowns, while the lone woman looks up with an alarmed smile. From left, the actors are Ichikawa Danjuro IX, Ichikawa Shinsha, Ichikawa Ebizo, Ichikawa Sadanji, and Sawamura Tossho. The background is shaded from red to green with text running across the top. A handsome depiction of this kabuki tradition.

Image Size - 14 1/8" x 28 3/4" + margins as shown
