Onoe Baiko IV as Komachi, 1850

Comments - Attractive portrait of Onoe Baiko IV as the beauty Komachi in the kabuki play "Tsumoru Koi Yuki no Seki no To" at the Kawarazaki Theater. She stands outside a garden gate, a slightly alarmed expression on her face. She is dressed for traveling, with a straw raincoat over her shoulder and a hat in one hand, a walking stick in the other. Her hair is pulled back into a smooth bun adorned with ribbons and a cluster of blue flowers. A blossoming cherry tree frames the evening sky above. A handsome design.
