Ichimura Uzaemon III as Hisamatsu and Sawamura Tanosuke III as Osome, 1861 - Handsome kabuki double portrait featuring the young couple Hisamatsu and Osome, a pair of lovers from Osaka. The beauty Osome smiles down at her sweetheart, holding one sleeve to her chest. Her hair is pulled back into a smooth knot, adorned with a red lacquer comb, clusters of flowers, and ribbons. Hisamatsu looks back at her unhappily, pressing a cloth bundle to his chest. He wears a finely striped kimono over a red under robe with an embossed black collar. The background is divided diagonally, with a red tie-dyed cloth pattern at the top and solid green below. From left, the actors are Ichimura Uzaemon III Sawamura Tanosuke III. Nicely detailed with fine line work in the hair and burnishing on Osome's black kimono collar and black obi. An interesting format.
