A Fuji Arts Special Offer Auction

Viewing Plum Blossoms, 1893 - Lovely scene of the wife of Fujiwara Toshinari viewing plum blossoms in the evening. She pauses to look back over her shoulder as she strolls among through the garden, a young boy and two samurai gesturing to her excitedly at right. White blossoms and buds dot the ancient trees, contrasting nicely with the rugged calligraphic lines of the branches and trunks. An attractive design from a rarely seen Chikanobu series, nicely detailed with metallic pigment that has oxidized to a dark tone on the pattern of the beauty's kimono. The first time we've offered this subject.
