Toki Kurosawa - Handsome portrait of Toki Kurosawa, who became Japan's first female elementary school teacher in 1873. She stands beside a wooden post, looking back over her shoulder with a slight smile. She holds a hat in one hand and a bamboo walking stick in the other, dressed in an intricately patterned kimono. A large paper lantern with the Meiji chrysanthemum crest can be seen behind her. A nicely detailed design. Includes burnishing on the black collar.
