Comments - Interesting kabuki scene of a beauty freeing birds, watching them with an alarmed expressions as they take to the sky after she has opened the cage on the ground before her. A matron kneeling at lower right grimaces angrily as she watches, while the princess behind her smiles slightly. The princess sits on a black cushion patterned with herons and clouds, wearing a beautiful black kimono with chrysanthemum blossoms and trimmed with bows on the long sleeves. At left, a samurai scowls as he looks up. A border of clouds separates the figures from a view of green hills and flowering cherry trees. An attractive design, nicely detailed.
