Iga Jutaro Watching a Battle

Comments - Great scene of Iga Jutaro, a retainer of the Shogun Soma Kotaro Yoshikado, watching a battle from atop a cliff at upper right. The elderly warrior grimaces angrily as he looks down on the samurai fighting with swords and spears below. At lower right, a warrior grips a hand cannon while his companion gestures with his hand. At upper left, a general surveys the scene from astride a horse, his men massed at attention below, making no move to intervene in the fight. Rice fields stretch out across the plain to a village at the foot of the mountains, the towers of a castle rising above the trees. A handsome design with an interesting landscape setting and soft shading on the night sky.

Image Size - 14" x 28 1/8"
