Annual Events in the Floating World: The Third Month (Yayoi)

Comments - Charming scene of beauties and children returning home in the early evening after gathering shellfish at low tide. At right, a beauty leads a boy by the hand, smiling at him as he carries a basket of clams under his arm. Behind them, a woman and a girl share the duty of carrying a filled basket suspended from a slender pole. The beach is still crowded with people digging for shells and relaxing, a few ships anchored in the harbor beyond. An attractive design, nicely detailed.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 14" x 18 7/8"

Condition - This print with good detail as shown. Two separate panels. A few repairs and creases. Slight rippling at edges. Please see photos for details.
