Series; Children Imitating the Seven Gods of Good Fortune

Lucky God Daikoku, 1844 - 1847 - Charming design from a rarely seen Toyokuni III series pairing children with Japan's beloved Seven Lucky Gods. Here, a young boy climbs over his mother's lap as he holds a tiny toy mallet atop a slender pole. The beauty smiles as she looks up, her checked kimono wrapped loosely about her. A circular inset above depicts Daikoku, standing atop two bales of rice with his magic mallet in hand. A border of clouds runs across the top of the page. An attractive design.
