Comments - Charming shin-hanga scene of visitors to Mii Temple relaxing on benches with cups of tea and Benkei Chikara Mochi. These mochi or rice cakes are associated with the great warrior monk Benkei because of the legend of him stealing the enormous temple bell of Miidera for his own monastery. After eating them, visitors are said to possess the strength of Benkei for the rest of the day. Here, people enjoy their refreshments beneath the overhang of the roof, enjoying a fine view of the blossoming cherry trees and the city below. An attractive composition with wonderful detail and fresh color, and a rarely seen design by this artist.
