Original Yoshiiku (1833 - 1904) Japanese Woodblock Print
Family Parting, 1863

Comments - Interesting kabuki scene of a father leaving with his two children, looking back over his shoulder at his wife, an anguished expression on his face as he holds a baby in his arms. His coat features a pattern of anchors and robes, trimmed and lined with a light blue tie-dyed print. Beside him, his son waves a happy goodbye to his mother at right, who holds a hand mirror reflecting the baby's face. At left, a tattered umbrella rests on the ground as snow falls heavily through the wintry sky. From left, the principle actors are Ichikawa Kodanji and Onoe Kikugoro. A handsome design with expressive figures.

Artist - Yoshiiku (1833 - 1904)

Image Size - 14" x 19 1/4"
