Comments - Handsome scene from the kabuki play "Hana mo Yoshida Iwao no Matsuwaka" of Katada Rakuga leaning froward at left with an angry grimace as he begins to draw his sword, a drum in his other hand. In the center, his wife throws her hands out at her side, seemingly in alarm but with a smile on her face. At left, At left, the young Hatsuhira Isshi Komakichi hides behind his kimono sleeve, a shamisen and plectrum on the floor beside him. In the center, a shelf in a niche in the wall holds elegant lacquer boxes with scrolls and books. From left, the actors Nakamura Fukusuke I, Iwai Kumesaburo III, and Suketakaya Takasuke III. Expressive figures in a nicely detailed interior setting.

Condition - This print with good detail as shown. Three separate panels. Stitching holes at one side of each panel, repaired. A few creases, diagonal wrinkle in center panel. Please see photos for details.
