Adachi was one of the most respected publishers of the 20th century. Their woodblocks were printed to the highest standards with excellent color and fine detail. Founded in 1925, Adachi also chose interesting and varied subjects for their prints and was the only publisher of many famous old ukiyo-e images.

Beauty Wringing out Cloth - Charming scene from everyday life of a beauty doing laundry, wringing water from a length of green and white patterned cloth as she lifts it from a shallow wooden tub of water. She wears a striped apron over a pine print kimono tied with a brown obi that reverses to mauve, her sleeves tied back with a red sash. A circular inset above shows the entrance to a building with a colorful lantern hung near the doorway. An attractive design, nicely detailed with a delicate embossed line along the side of the nose.
