Pride of Hongo: Nakamura Shikan IV, 1867

Comments - Interesting kabuki portrait of Nakamura Shikan IV as a beauty looking up with a rather evil grin as she holds a folding fan behind her hair. She wears a purple kimono over a red under robe, the collar finely detailed with a pattern of dashes and lines, tied with a checked olive green obi. The wall of a daimyo's mansion runs across the background, with a fire tower visible above the treetops. An expressive figure.
