Each print illustrates a scene from a chapter in Murasaki's beloved "Tale of Genji," considered one of the greatest works of Japanese literature. Handsome views of court life and travel during various seasons are documented with a wonderful attention to detail, including luxurious fabrics and elegant architectural settings. These prints are beautifully drawn with fine line work, with handsome coloring and soft shading adding depth to the images. These attractive designs provide a terrific look at upper-class Japanese life during the time of Genji. A great choice for a collector interested in this timeless tale.
