Nobleman Playing a Drum

Comments - Handsome kabuki scene of two samurai and a beauty in a room looking out into a fenced courtyards lined with buildings and lengths of cloth featuring different crests. At right, he taps the drum resting on his shoulder, a sober expression on his face. He wears a yellow kimono patterned with blossoms and phoenixes in flight, and has unusual sideburns. The beauty in the center looks up with a rather crazed expression as the man beside her strikes a pose with his fan in the air. She holds a tray with a shallow red lacquer sake cup on it. A colorful design with large expressive figures and an interesting setting, detailed with embossing on the beauty's white collar.
