The Secrets of Strategy: Chapter 4 - Terrific scene from this fascinating series based on the life of the great Minamoto warrior Yoshitsune. Here, the rogue Kumasaka Chohan and his gang of robbers are gathered around an enormous pine tree, which served as their lookout. One of his men, Kawachi Kakutei, has climbed the tree and is scanning the horizon, watching the silhouettes of travelers, including the young Yoshitsune, beyond the tall grasses on the horizon. A huge campfire burns under the tree, sending clouds of smoke rising into the night sky as the men warm themselves. Chohan sits on a stool drinking a cup of sake, his monk's cowl wrapped around his head. A fantastic night scene with wonderful detail and atmosphere, beautifully shaded.
