Sword Fight, 1830 - Handsome kabuki scene of two commoners engaged in a sword fight, clashing weapons on a country road. At left, Hanyu no Kingoro holds his blade upright with both hands, using it to fend off a blow from his attacker. The attacker stands with his feet firmly spread apart, his other hand behind his back, staring intently at his foe. At right, a beauty peers around a grain stack, frightened by the confrontation. A white cloth covers her hair, the edge caught between her teeth, and she wears a green obi patterned with leaves. A willow tree frames the view. The actor at left is Kataoka Gado I. An interesting design with attractive color.
