Original Kunichika (1835 - 1900) Japanese Woodblock Print
Concerned Beauties, 1876

Comments - Interesting kabuki scene of a group of concerned-looking women. In the center, a beauty holds up a package wrapped in red brocade, a plectrum or pick for a koto in her other hand. The matron at right looks up suspiciously as she pushes up her kimono sleeve. A young girl waits patiently between the pair, while the woman at left appears worried. A row of signs set against patterned backgrounds runs across the top. A handsome design with expressive figures, nicely detailed with embossing in the white kimono collar.

Artist - Kunichika (1835 - 1900)

Image Size - 14" x 28 5/8"

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three separate panels, backed with paper. A few wormholes, repaired. A couple marks. Please see photos for details.
