Adachi was one of the most respected publishers of the 20th century. Their woodblocks were printed to the highest standards with excellent color and fine detail. Founded in 1925, Adachi also chose interesting and varied subjects for their prints and was the only publisher of many famous old ukiyo-e images.

Comments - Beautiful large format woodblock of a courtesan in a floral patterned kimono holding a small child in her arm. She looks lovingly at the child, who reaches for the toy she holds in her other hand. A charming image from the early years of black and white prints, with a nice sense of movement and calligraphic line work in the flowing robes.
