Ichimura Uzaemon XII as Takechi Mitsuhide, 1848

Comments - Great kabuki portrait of Ichimura Uzaemon XII as Takechi Mitsuhide, the treacherous samurai who betrayed his master, Lord Oda Harunaga (the real-life Akechi Mitsuhide and Oda Nobunaga). He stands on the verandah of a mansion clutching a blind pierced with many arrows, a naginata in his other hand, the tattered remnants of the blind hanging from the eaves above. He looks over his shoulder with a strange expression. A handsome design, nicely composed and detailed.

Artist - Kuniyoshi (1797 - 1861)

Image Size - 14" x 9 3/8" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with nice detail as shown. Small losses and thinning at edges, repaired. Wrinkling and slight rubbing at edges, staining. Please see photos for details.
