Kuniyoshi (1797 - 1861) Japanese Woodblock Reprint
Sakata Kaidomaru

Comments - Fantastic depiction of the young boy Sakata Kaidomaru (Kintaro) wrestling with an enormous carp in a rushing waterfall. Known for his impressive strength, Kaidomaru grips the fish with a determined expression as it thrashes about, its tail whipping up white spray and foam. A dynamic design with a striking composition, with beautiful detail in the fish's scales. A terrific, memorable Kuniyoshi image.
