Comments - Dramatic scene from the kabuki play "Kotoba no Hana Momiji no Yozakari" of Asamaru at lower left gripping a sword in one hand as he tugs on the robe of the monk Dainichibo with the other. Asamaru looks down with a distraught expression, his long hair falling loosely over his shoulders, a string of prayer beads around his neck. At upper left, the monk grimaces at him as he clutches a wooden mallet. At upper left, Hosaku holds up a small drawstring purse with both hands. At lower right, Tadakiyo's wife Shirayu tilts her head with a coy smile as she holds the hilt of a sword. Nice expressive figures, detailed with embossing on the beauty's white kimono trim and the sword hilt she is holding.
