Comments - Attractive kabuki triptych illustrating a scene from the famous tale of the Soga Brothers, two young samurai whose father was murdered when they were young children. Soga Goro, the younger of the two brothers, stands at left, gripping his sword as he scowls at the beautiful courtesan Oisa no Tora. She smiles back at him serenely, holding a fan in her outstretched hand. Her outer kimono is patterned with a dragon amidst swirling clouds and red flames. At right, Juro seems ready to draw his sword, his hand resting lightly on the hilt. His kimono features a design plovers flying above crashing yellow waves. An ancient plum tree dotted with white blossoms fills the background, with the sky darkening to a deep blue. A handsome design with bold patterns.
