Five Heroes: Nakamura Shikan as Chuemon of Kurofunecho, 1862 - Handsome kabuki portrait of Nakamura Shikan as Chuemon of Kurofunecho, one of five otokodate or street knights. He grimaces as he looks up, one hand gripping the end of his sword and the other pushing up his sleeve. He wears a striking kimono patterned with a ship with waves crashing against the hull and a sail over his shoulders, and chunky geta clogs. A large display of sake barrels is stacked behind him, each featuring a brand name on the side. A great design with an interesting setting.
