A Fuji Arts Special Offer Auction

Roads of Human Life, 1846 - Unusual triptych depicting people along the roads of life, with four or five scenes per page. At lower left, a traveler climbs along a rope precariously strung between two cliffs with the ocean below. In the right panel, a man bends his head down as he faces into the wind and rain. At top center, a group enjoys a picnic with music and dancing under a blossoming plum tree. We have been unable to find another copy of this work. It has a "G" Nanushi censor seal, which corresponds to 1846. A fascinating subject with wonderful detail.
