Girl with a Purse, 1897 - Charming portrait of a young girl smiling as she looks back over her shoulder, gesturing with one hand while she holds a purse in the other. Her outer robe features stylized birds and blossoms, trimmed with red tassels and worn over a blue and lavender print kimono and red under robe decorated with leaves. Her hair is adorned with floral ornaments, one with dangling metal fringe and the other with a softly shaded tassel. The first time we've seen this attractive design.
