The Seven Lucky Gods: Fukurokuju: Ichikawa Kodanji, 1855

Comments - Handsome kabuki portrait from a series pairing actors with one of Japan's beloved Seven Lucky Gods, here Fukurokuju. He stands beneath a blossoming plum tree in early spring, grimacing strangely as he holds out a scroll. His kimono is tucked up in the back for easier movement, worn over black leggings, a green robe tucked under his arm. An interesting design with an attractive natural setting.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 14 1/8" x 9 5/8"

Condition - This print with nice detail as shown. Small loss at edges, repaired. A few creases, fold at corner. Please see photos for details.
