Bando Mitsugoro as Soga no Goro, 1869

Comments - Great kabuki portrait of Bando Mitsugoro as Soga no Goro, the younger of the two famous Soga Brothers, in the play "Tsurigitsune Haru no Soga-giku." He leans forward with an angry grimace, gripping a pole with both hands. He wears a red and green kimono patterned with his trademark butterflies tucked into black pants with circular crane motifs. His hair is pulled back into a topknot, parted at the center into two small wings of hair. A nice large expressive figure, with handsome woodgrain impression on the background.

Image Size - 13 1/2" x 9 1/8"
