Akabane Bridge and Suiten Shrine in Shiba, circa 1840 - 1842 - Lovely view of Akabane Bridge in Shiba, with groups of women crossing over the arched wooden structure. At left, the highest fire tower in Edo rises above a tree-covered hill, the street below lined with daimyo's mansions and crowded with pedestrians. Softly shaded clouds border the foreground and drift above the rooftops. A handsome composition.
