The Miracle at Hakone, 1851 - 1852

Comments - Fantastic scene of the young warrior Katsugoro fighting his sworn enemy Takiguchi Shinsuke at the waterfall near Hakone. Katsugoro miraculously regained the use of his legs after the ghost of his wife Hatsuhana prayed for his recovery. She appears here in the waterfall at right, her hands clasped together, as Katsugoro casts aside his wooden cart and battles Takiguchi, who had murdered his brother. A dramatic image with a fantastic natural setting, the sun rising in the morning sky at left.

Image Size - 14 3/8" x 19 1/2" + margins as shown
