Original Settai Komura (1887 - 1940) Japanese Woodblock Print
Snow Rabbit Fan Print

Settai Komura - After studying Japanese painting at the Tokyo School of Fine Arts, Settai Komura became a noted illustrator and graphic designer, and also created sets for theater and film productions. His style was influenced by the ukiyo-e masters Harunobu and Buncho, which can be seen in his delicate drawings of classic beauties. In the last few years, exhibits of his work in Japan have revived interest in Komura's oeuvre, which until recently, has received little recognition after his death. His elegant and spare designs are highly collectible, and lifetime originals of his woodblocks are rarely seen and priced in the $2,000 - $3,000 range.

Special detail - This is a lovely posthumous printing, with mica on the background surrounding the fan-shaped inset.
