Sixteen Divine Tokugawa Generals

Comments - Terrific triptych picturing sixteen Tokugawa generals seated under a purple drapery patterned with the Tokugawa family crest of three hollyhock leaves. An elderly man sits at top center wearing a battle helmet topped with a dragon and holding a tasseled command baton. The men look at each other sternly, several frowning angrily. Most wear armor and helmets, while one man at lower right wears a red robe, his sword tucked into the white sash tied around his waist. A large standard at right features a yellow folding fan with the red sun symbol of Japan on it. An intriguing subject with vibrant color and fine expressive faces.

Image Size - 14 1/4" x 28 1/2"
