The An'ei Era (1772 - 1781) - Attractive portrait of a beauty returning from the bath. She carries an umbrella, and a small sachet or bag hangs from a red cord between her teeth. She smile slightly as she looks back, wearing a purple floral print kimono with a white towel draped over one shoulder, a narrow white band tying back her elegant hairstyle. Several pedestrians walk past at upper right, including a samurai followed by a servant in a short coat, with a man wearing a straw raincoat and woven hat walking the opposite direction. Nicely detailed with burnishing and fine line work on the hair. A striking composition with real graphic appeal.
