Covers for Hokusetsu Bidan Jidai Kagami, 1855

Comments - Handsome diptych composed of covers for two volumes of the book "Hokusetsu Bidan Jidai Kagami." At right, a beauty hides her mouth behind her sleeve as she looks down. Behind her, a young man looks furtively over his shoulder as he passes her a letter. A border of clouds separates the figure from a view of a mansion built out over the water surrounded by a garden with blossoming cherry trees and stone lanterns. An attractive design in an interesting format.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 6 7/8" x 9 1/4"

Condition - This print with good detail as shown. Two attached panels, backed with paper. Vertical folds between panels. Stitching holes at one side of each panel, repaired. Please see photos for details.
