Standing Beauty

A Fuji Arts special offer auction

Publisher - Adachi from a rare series of Edo masterwork designs. Adachi publisher seal in margin or on reverse.

Adachi was one of the most respected publishers of the 20th century. Their woodblocks were printed to the highest standards with excellent color and fine detail. Founded in 1925, Adachi also chose interesting and varied subjects for their prints and was the only publisher of many famous old ukiyo-e images.

Standing Beauty - Lovely portrait of a standing beauty in a kimono covered with writing. She lifts one edge of the hem, revealing a bare foot and the red orange lining, along with a white under robe featuring a scene of a courtier. An elegant design with flowing line work and touches of soft yellow and red orange. A great example from the early years of hand-colored woodblock prints.

Artist - Kaigetsudo Anchi (active circa 1704 - 1716)

Image Size - 22 5/8" x 12 5/8"

Condition - With excellent color and detail as shown. A few faint creases. Please note: folded by publisher for storage, will be shipped folded, could be flattened to frame. Please see photos for details. Nice overall.
